Student Leadership

St. Francis provides students with leadership opportunities that are rare in a school setting. Beginning in Primary School, each class has class leaders in order to teach responsibility, to help the class run smoothly and to provide ownership of the class. Examples of these “class leaders” are the line leader, parliamentarian and chaplain.

In Lower School, every fourth-grade student is given the opportunity to serve on the Lower School Leadership Council. Representatives are randomly chosen and are rotated each quarter. As a representative of the council, students assist with morning carpool, special events and activities, and admission tours.

Middle Schoolers are required to serve on one of several councils, in which they organize themselves, establish goals and priorities, make decisions, settle conflicts, and listen to and respect the ideas of others. These opportunities lead to social and emotional growth, as well as to strengthened leadership abilities. Middle School councils and leadership opportunities include:

  • Athletics Council
  • Chapel Council
  • Fine Arts Council
  • House Council
  • Library Council
  • Service Council
  • Student Council
  • Wellness Council
  • Student Admission Ambassadors
  • National Junior Honor Society
  • WEB Mentoring
